Where is commencement?

The graduate & undergraduate ceremonies will be held at the Dunkin' Donuts Center (1 LaSalle Square, Providence, RI). Guests must arrive with their own wheelchair if ambulatory assistance is required. Refer to the venue’s website for accessibility information.

Note: Physician Assistant Commencement and the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will be held on-campus.

Will grads be photographed?

Yes, professional photographers will take each graduating student’s picture as they cross the stage. Pre-register now - follow the link under your ceremony, below - to be notified when photos are ready to be viewed. You'll receive a discount coupon, too!

Where do grads arrive?

  • Follow the service road on the left side of the Dunkin’ Donuts Center and enter via the back of the building.

  • There will be security checkpoints & bag checks; graduation gowns must be unzipped.

  • Large items are not allowed; leave items like balloons, flowers, purses, etc. with guests.

Where do grads go once inside?

  • Follow signs to line up with classmates in your college/major (there is no alphabetical lineup).

  • If needed, use the restroom now because you must stay seated during the ceremony (you cannot leave the seating area unless guided by an usher).

  • Ushers will guide you when to enter the floor seating area, and later, when to proceed to the stage.

What should grads expect when crossing the stage?

  • Be ready, pay attention to those in front of you, and keep the line moving.

  • Before heading up the stairs, you will receive a diploma cover (yours to keep) and then photographed quickly.

  • At the top of the stairs, hand your name card to the announcer, walk to center stage to greet the dean, and then return to your seat.

Can I leave early?

No. All graduates, guests & attendees are expected to remain for the entire duration of their ceremony. Leaving early shows extreme disrespect. Wait until all names are read - the ceremony ends shortly thereafter.

When does each webcast start?
